June 27, 2011 Wow!!
So much going on these days! I was so surprised to see how long every one's letter to me was this week! Life seems to be getting more and more complicated! Which I am sure just about everyone appreciates, especially mom :P haha I remember when I started to be doing more and more things, and now all the girls are doing them! Not fair!! :P Things are ever busy for me here, we had a really long week, but it was really good at the same time, here is the low down:
Monday was a regular P-day, fun emailing and hearing from everyone, we also washed the truck :P
Tuesday- Was a really long day, we started out with a really powerful morning and set some more baptism dates, BUT we got a call from the couple missionaries. Very rarely is there a really positive call from the couples haha usually something needs to be done, or someone is not happy haha So this time the Elders in Walukuba were not getting along, they were arguing about stupid things like doing dishes and other stuff. SO we went there in the afternoon and we worked with the district leader and his companion and we asked him how he could improve his district. He is a really sincere guy and we had a good talk with him.
Wednesday- We attended an District Development meeting that Mpumudde was having, we also were to go on exchanges with them that day till Thursday. I was staying in my area and working with Elder Goodner from Utah. He is a greenie in and house full of Africans and he is really having a hard time adjusting to the different culture and things. Some missionaries really have a hard time with that. I do not really, so I was really able to talk to him and such. It was a good day.
Thursday- We had a FANTABULOUS Zone Development meeting. We had some good missionaries give us some trainings on how we can become better missionaries and better teachers. We also address some problems in the work in the Zone, and how we can all do better. It was really powerful, probably one of the best meetings I have attended on mission, not going to lie! We then went to Bugembe and did some baptism interviews for them, their people were very ready. I asked Pamela, the candidate, what her favorite part about going to church was, and she said, the sacrament. That answer really struck me hard, and I learned a powerful lesson from her. That is THE reason why we go to church, and she totally understood that.
Friday- Was a great day. One of the couple missionaries, the Shipley's, are leaving next week to go home. They are like the Mom and Dad of Jinja Zone, and we really love them. Every month they invite the missionaries over for breakfast, so we thought we should return the favor before they go home. So on Friday morning we made pancakes, sausage, scrabbled eggs and juice for them! It was so legit, yet so expensive haha :P But it was worth it. They were so thankful and said this was the first time anyone invited them over to eat haha We will truly miss them so much.
Saturday- Was another crazy day. We went and did some service in the morning for a investigator family, and it was so fun! We cleared some land for them so they can begin to plant. It took about an hour and a half with four missionaries and themselves. My hands are so soft now! It embarrassing! I got a big blister on my right hand, it stinks haha but it was so good! They fed us some good beans after wards as well :) Then we had a wedding at our branch! It was so fun! The African weddings are something to behold! I took a video and will send it home on a CD :)
Sunday- Was BOMB! We did not spend as much time in the area as we would have liked this week, but still, 15 of our investigators came to church! 10 of which have baptism dates! We are looking forward to dipping all the people in the waters of baptism soon! The huge wave starts on the 10th of July! We even have a wedding being planned for the 16th so the couple can be baptized on the 17th!! :D It was so good! We are starting things right in the new branch so it will be the pride in Jinja! :)
Well that's about it for my week! Hope it was a good enough report for you mom!! :P
